If you've never had a professional massage, the not-knowing is usually the uncomfortable part. Here's exactly what happens, start to finish, so none of it is a surprise.
Start to finish
Plan to arrive about 15 minutes before your first appointment. One of our associates will greet you and hand you a short intake form covering your medical history, any injuries, and the areas you'd like your therapist to focus on or avoid.
That form isn't red tape. It's how your therapist knows what's safe and what's useful before they've laid a hand on you.
Your therapist brings you into the treatment room and goes through your form with you. This is the moment to mention old injuries, specific problem areas, and how much pressure you actually want.
All service times include about 10 minutes for dressing and consultation, so this conversation doesn't come out of your hands-on time.
Your therapist steps out of the room so you can undress in private, to whatever level you're comfortable with, and get on the table under the top sheet.
Most people undress fully apart from underwear, but only go as far as feels fine to you. If you're tense about it, you won't relax, and you won't get the benefit. Jewelry comes off.
You'll be draped at all times, with only the area being worked on uncovered. The room is warm and quiet with soft music, and we use an unscented, hypoallergenic lotion.
Talk as much or as little as you like. Do speak up if the pressure needs adjusting, if you're too warm or too cold, or if you notice a spot you'd like more attention on. It's your session.
If you doze off, that's fine. Your therapist will wake you gently when it's time to turn over or when the session ends.
Your therapist leaves the room while you dress. Take your time getting up, you'll likely be in a bit of a haze. They'll be waiting outside with any follow-up recommendations.
Drink more water than usual for the rest of the day. If you had deep tissue work you may be slightly sore tomorrow, much like after a good workout, and a hot shower helps.
Always appreciated, never expected. If you'd like to, the usual range is 20–25%, and it can be added to a card or check.
Please give us 24 hours if you need to reschedule. Missed appointments, or those cancelled inside 24 hours, may be charged up to the cost of the service.
We're by appointment. Book online any time, or call during center hours and we'll find you something.
Skip it if you have a fever, a cold or flu, or a contagious skin condition. Some conditions just mean your therapist adapts, so mention anything on your intake form.
Open seven days with extended weekday hours. Book online in about a minute, or call and we'll find you a time.
